Haiku

I came across a beautiful form of poetry I didn’t know of before. Thought I’d give it a couple of shots.

I am a novice at this, suggestions are most welcome and most appreciated! 🙂

——

Look into her eyes
I Search for a future
But see the past

——

The smell of rice
Imagined as if were true
My stomach bellows

——

Near the deep end
Of a river too fast
Feet slip away

——

Ant crawls
Grain of sugar on its back
The fit survive

——

Thank you.

Writing - Poetry. Movies - The classics. Books - Non-fiction. Music - Everything Calliphonous. When not slumming it out at the 9-to-5, you can often find me nose-deep in a book, hanging out with friends, strumming a rhythm, learning new activities, getting over a fear or two, stuffing my face, travelling, or simply doing whatever piques my curios.. "Squirrel!"

  1. If these are your first attempts at haiku, you must be a natural! I love the first one best, since it’s open to multiple interpretations. Also I like a haiku best if there are no ‘shortcuts’ like omitting of articles. But that’s a mere matter of personal taste of course. Anyway, very nice work, I think!
